Mounts for the Blink Mini Home Security Camera

Blink MiniToday we will be looking at some alternative mounts for the Blink Mini Home Security Camera.  This camera was released in April, 2020.  We’re used to Blink’s wireless battery powered cameras but this is a totally different design.

Our previous article on Blink XT2 Smart Security Camera Mounts covered some alternative possibilities for the wireless cameras.  None of that applies to this Blink Mini as the design is totally different.  Unlike other Blink cameras, this is not battery powered, it plugs into an A/C adapter.  Additionally, it connects directly to a wireless router, not through a traditional Blink sync module.

Blink Mini Mount in the Box

A Blink Mini is featured in the photo that accompanies this article.  The camera is attached to a stand.  Not a bad design.  It’s very functional.  The camera can swivel and pivot.  If your intention is to place the camera on a table or shelf, stop here.  There’s no need to a different solution.  This should work great as designed.  The camera has a 110 degree wide angle lens so placing it in a corner will get you the best view of a room.

If you need to mount this to a wall, there are a pair of screws in the box that can be attached to the base.  Mounting the camera on a wall is possible and then using the pivot and swivel feature, you can get a better angle.

There might be other places you want to place this camera.  A lot of home security cameras have a 1/4″ – 20 threaded mounting hole which is common to tripods.  This makes finding alternative mounts a lot easier.  Unfortunately the Blink Mini doesn’t have one of these so alternative mounts require some creativity.

Let’s look at a few scenarios and recommendations.

Alternative Mounts

You might want to place the Blink Mini pointing out a window, adhered to a mirror, attached to a kitchen cabinet, perhaps on a shelf where no shelf exists.

Consider the eLhook 4” White Stick-On and Removable Shelf For Cloud Security Cameras.  We have recommended this for a few cameras in the past, it will fit the Blink Mini just fine.  No permanent adhesive is used to stick the ElHook shelf to the flat surface.  We looked at the ElHook in more detail not too long ago.

The Blink Mini is very light coming in at around two ounces.  It doesn’t take a lot to hold it up so consider the Blink Mini Camera Adhesive Wall Mount Bracket.  The mount attaches vertically to a wall then the base slides into the bracket.  Simple to install and use.

Lastly Blink themselves created the Blink Mini Pan and Tilt Mount.  Remove the camera from the stand by pulling it away from the device.  It then attaches to this mount.  This integrates with the Blink app to allow you to move the Blink Mini up and down then right and left.  It’s a great addition to this camera.

We did a detailed review of this mount and liked it a lot.

Summary

The purpose of these mounting ideas is to help make this camera even more useful than it already is.  The minimal size and weight open a lot of possibilities that aren’t present with larger home security camera options on the market.  Adding some of these mounting accessories and ideas to the Blink Mini allows the camera to placed where other larger cameras cannot go.
