The Wyze Cam Pan v3 is a peculiarly shaped pan and tilt camera from one of our favorite manufacturers. But, giving credit where it’s due, this works really well.
We previously examined ways to mount the original Wyze Cam Pan and found some great ideas. Let’s find some good mount ideas for the Wyze Cam Pan v3.
Mount Analysis
This camera has two parts to it that spin and pivot independently. It’s a bit top heavy as this isn’t a light camera and as already stated, it’s got an interesting shape to it.
You cannot use mounts for the traditional Wyze Cam. The Wyze Cam Pan v3 is a different concept. This camera is larger and as already stated, it’s spinning.
Wyze has once again incorporated an industry standard 1/4″ – 20 threaded screw hole on the bottom of the camera. Turn over the camera to uncover the screw hole. The presence of the screw hole opens up a large market of tripods and camera mounts for the Wyze Cam Pan v3. Nice to see Wyze continue this trend.
Mount Recommendations
The mount used in the photo that accompanies this article is used to attach the camera to a lamp shade. Consider the Slow Dolphin Tripod Camera Clip. It’s a clamp that has that 1/4 – 20 threaded tripod screw hole on it. We think this works really well on rails too.
Attaching the Wyze Cam Pan v3 to a ceiling or wall makes this more of a stealth camera and provides angles you can’t get from placing it on a shelf or table. The Arkon Camera Wall Mount for CCTV POV Camcorders Cameras will attach to the bottom of the camera using that tripod screw we mentioned. This is a wall mount. Attach this metal mount to a wall and use the three adjustment points to get the proper angle. This mount includes a two-year warranty.
If attaching the Wyze Cam Pan to a ceiling, you will be mounting the camera upside down. Fortunately, Wyze thought of this already. Get into advanced settings and rotate the camera 180 degrees. The image will be flipped.
Consider a Suction Mount
There are a lot of suction mounts around that will attach to the tripod screw of the camera. Attaching this camera to a window will allow you to see outdoors. Be sure to turn the night vision off because it will get in the way of a clear night image. A good suction mount for a Wyze Cam will need to be heavy duty to accommodate the weight of the camera and be able to tolerate the motion of the pan option.
Consider the Fat Gecko Mini Camera and Camcorder Mount. It’s a well made mount that adjusts at the base and tip to get the right angle for the best video when mounted on a window. The three-inch suction cup has a vacuum lock for a more secure hold. An extension arm is included with the mount which we suggest using to help get the proper angle. This will attach to the screw hole on the bottom of the camera.
Any of these three selected mounts will extend the possibilities of a Wyze Cam Pan. You can just do so much with a table or shelf.
