Blink Outdoor 4 Camera Mounts

Blink Outdoor 4 MountThe Blink Outdoor 4 Camera mounts are their best yet.  In what used to be a very weak included accessory, Blink has come a very long way from the original mount.

This is the fourth generation of mounts for Blink.  The original Blink mount left a lot to be desired.  We then raved over the improved Blink XT2 mount which was a very usable pivot mount but had a weakness when it came to a ceiling mount.

The Blink Outdoor Mount was somewhat similar to this one.  The fourth generation is somewhat more rugged and has a matte finish to match the camera.

Using the Blink Outdoor 4 Camera Mount in the Box

The The Blink Outdoor 4 Camera mount that is included in the box is shown in the photo.  There is a base which attaches to the mounting pedestal.  Mounting screws are included for attaching to a flat surface.  The ball and socket design provides the ability to swivel and pivot allowing you to get a better viewing angle.  This is a very capable mount for wall mounting.

But wait that’s not all.  There’s an additional auxiliary attachment that can be snapped onto the back of the camera and then to the pivot mount to provide horizontal (aka ceiling) mounting capability.

Both of these mounts will attach to the back of the Blink Outdoor Security Camera.  Just snap the round mount adapter into the hole where the screw is located.

The Blink Outdoor 4 Camera Mounts 3-Pack is available for those needing an additional mount.  These are made by Blink specifically for this model so compatibility will not be an issue.

The Blink Outdoor 4 Camera has a 143 degree field of view.  Mount it as high as possible for the best view.  The wide angle is greatly improved over the older generation cameras (was 110).  This means you will get a great span of real estate with these cameras.

Alternative Mounts for the Blink Outdoor 4 Camera

Blink continues the proprietary mounting system in this generation of cameras so the industry standard tripod type of attachment isn’t going to work.

A mount featuring the custom attachment that fits around the latch to open the battery compartment is what’s needed.

For example, a great location to capture outdoor action is attachment to a rain gutter.  Mounted nice and high, this location gives a bird’s eye view of the property.

Consider the Weatherproof Gutter Mount for Blink Outdoor 4. This mount allows attachment of the Blink Outdoor Security Camera to the lip of the rain gutter. There are two screw clamps which securely attach the mount to the front of the gutter. I use one of these on my home and with the exception of when the roof guy knocks it off the gutter, it works great.  Like the stock mount, this includes a custom adapter to fit the latch area for the battery compartment.

Another interesting idea is a suction cup mount.  Some would prefer not to drive screws into the wall of a home or office.  A suction cup will attach to anything smooth and flat.  Think about windows or the side of a metal file cabinet.  Even a tabletop might make a suitable location.

Consider the ALERTCAM Suction Cup Mount for Blink Outdoor 4. This mount incorporates a suction cup attachment with that custom adapter needed to attach to the back of the camera.

Lastly, if unhappy with the mount that came in the box and want to step it up, consider the Adjustable Security Wall Mount for Blink Outdoor 4.  This mount bolts to a vertical surface then has a swivel feature to provide an increased amount of possibilities in terms of tilt and swivel.

Summary

A lot of Blink Outdoor 4 Camera owners may opt to use no mount at all as it can work very effectively sitting on a table or shelf.  However those that want it mounted and don’t mind drilling some holes will be well served by the included mount.  We also presented a few options for those that would prefer an alternative location.
