How the D1 Classic Mounting System Works
The D1 Classic ships with a base bracket that screws into a flat mounting surface using the included hardware and template. Once mounted, the camera can pan 360 degrees and tilt up to 90 degrees through the Aosu app. Because it is a PTZ camera, you have more flexibility in positioning than you do with a fixed camera.
The solar panel is adjustable independently of the camera head. Aosu recommends facing the panel south in the northern hemisphere for the strongest solar exposure. The camera itself does not have to point in the same direction as the panel, so you can aim the camera toward the area you want to monitor while angling the panel toward better sunlight.

This no-drill gutter mount adds an integrated ABS hood above the camera. The shade can help protect the lens area from overhead sun, rain, and some incidental glare while still letting you mount the D1 Classic directly to a gutter.

That location can make much better use of the camera’s 360-degree pan capability because the camera has open sightlines in multiple directions. For driveways, side yards, and front-to-side coverage, a corner position can often cover more useful area from one camera.

Placement Tips for the Aosu SolarCam D1 Classic
- Mount at 7 to 10 feet. Aosu recommends this range for PIR motion detection. Mounting too low can increase ground-level triggers, while mounting excessively high can reduce useful detection coverage.
- Use a corner when you want coverage in two directions. Corner placement generally makes better use of the camera’s pan range because it opens sightlines along multiple sides of the building.
- Give the solar panel good sun exposure. Aosu recommends south-facing placement in the northern hemisphere when possible. Because the panel angle is independent of the camera head, you have some flexibility in how you position both.
- Check Wi-Fi before installing permanently. Test the camera at the intended location before drilling or climbing a ladder for the final install. A marginal Wi-Fi signal is much easier to solve before the camera is mounted.
