Phone, Tablet and GPS Mounts for a Mazda CX-30

Mazda CX-30 Car MountsToday, we are going to take a close look at the Mazda CX-30.  It’s Mazda’s subcompact SUV entry.  Had a lot of space in the front seat for a small SUV.

Mount Analysis

We recently took a look at the Mazda CX-90 which is much larger cousin to this model.  Being a small model, there’s less space in the front.  It’s a fairly conventional interior which is good for mounting devices. Lots of different places will work well in a Mazda CX-30 but there were a few mounts and holders that won’t work.

The cup holder location is set towards the front of the vehicle directly in front of the shifter.  Coupled with the small size, this knocks this location out of the running for a device.

The dashboard is another tough spot.  It’s a smaller vehicle and the display console sits right in the middle blocking most dash realty.

No CD player either.  This is a continued trend we have seen from car manufacturers.  So much for that location.

Now let’s look at what will work in a Mazda CX-30.

The windshield is going to work well.  The mount should sit s bit higher on the windshield to allow viewing above the large console screen in the middle.

One of the air vents in the middle will make an excellent location for a phone or GPS.  We like this location as it puts the device at a perfect viewing location.

A car seat bolt mount will work for a small tablet.  Attach this to the front passenger seat bolt which can be loosened slightly with the right tool.

We always try to have a photo of the interior accompany our vehicle specific articles.  So a photo of the interior of the Mazda CX-30 accompanies this article.

Mount Recommendations for a Mazda CX-30

Smartphones will work well with a windshield mount.  Our go-to mount for this location continues to be the Arkon MegaGrip Suction Cup Windshield and Dash Mount.  The suction mount features a vacuum locked assembly attached to a pivoting arm.  The phone can swivel into any orientation.  The mount also comes with an adhesive disk that you can stick to the dash to turn the mount into a console mount.  The suction assembly can adhere to the adhesive disk just like it would on a windshield.  I use this mount personally in my vehicle and it works great.

Remove the cradle from the above mount and it will fit most Garmin GPS models.

On the custom side is the Lunquin Phone Bracket for Mazda CX-30.  This fits a variety of years and models so double check for your year and trim level.  This mount fits in between the middle air vents and top of dash.  An interesting mount.

The vent mount is a good choice for this vehicle.  Great place with easy access for your phone or GPS.

The Andobil Car Air Vent Mount is a recent discovery of ours for the vent.  The mount can be used to hold most smartphones or a Garmin GPS.  All Garmin vehicle GPS devices made over the past ten years include a custom cradle that has a 17mm socket on the back.  Remove the cradle from the mount and you have a 17mm ball.  Just snap the Garmin cradle onto the mount without the cradle and your GPS can be mounted to air vent.

The car seat bolt is accessible on a Mazda CX-30.  The passenger seat bolt closest to the driver is the best place to mount a tablet.  I recommend the Arkon Car Seat Bolt Floor Mount for Tablets.  The mount has a hook on the bottom that fits under the seat bolt.  Installation is easy and takes five minutes.  Be sure to use a wrench or pliers when installing these.  Don’t hand tighten the bolt.  Use the wrench or pliers because it needs to be completely tight to ensure the weight of the tablet doesn’t compromise the mount.  The mount itself is made of metal and is flexible so when your tablet isn’t in the mount, it can be bent out of the way so a passenger can sit without a problem.

Summary

The Mazda CX-30 will support the windshield and vent for a phone or GPS.  The seat bolt will work best for a small tablet.  The CD player, cup holder and top of the dash do not work well in this vehicle.
