MagSafe car mounts have exploded in popularity, but most of them fall into two categories: cheap magnetic plates that barely hold your phone, or bulky charging mounts that feel like they belong in a rideshare vehicle. The Anker Prime MagSafe Qi2 Vent Mount is trying to sit right in the middle—premium build, strong hold, and actually useful charging.
I’ve been using this mount personally, and it’s one of the few vent mounts that actually feels like it belongs in a modern vehicle. It’s not perfect, but it gets a lot right—especially if you’re running a MagSafe-compatible iPhone.

What Makes This Mount Different
The big story here is Qi2 charging. Unlike older MagSafe-style mounts that top out at slower 15 watt wireless speeds, this one is designed to deliver 25 watts with magnetic alignment. That means you’re not just sticking your phone to a magnet—you’re actually charging at a usable speed while driving.
Anker also nailed the build. The mount has a solid, tight feel to it—no cheap plastic flex, no rattling joints, and no weird wobble once installed. Compared to a lot of generic magnetic mounts, this feels like a step up immediately.
And the magnetic head is a large oval shape which (to me) feels like a steadier mounting surface.
Magnetic Strength (This Is Where It Wins)
This is where a lot of mounts fail—and where this one doesn’t.
The magnet strength is excellent. I’ve used it with a Pro Max-sized phone, and it locks in with confidence. No sliding, no slow drooping, and no feeling like it’s about to fall off when you hit a bump (and I hit a lot of bumps!).
Even better, it doesn’t feel “overly aggressive” when removing the phone. You can still grab and pull it off cleanly with one hand without fighting the mount.
Qi2 Charging Performance
Qi2 is the upgrade that actually matters here.
With older magnetic mounts, charging often felt like an afterthought—slow, inconsistent, or barely keeping up with navigation apps. This one performs much better. It maintains battery level while running GPS and can actually add charge during longer drives.
As stated already, this is a 25 watt connection. Anker provides a 60 watt charger with the mount which is appreciated.
It’s not wired charging fast, but it’s finally at the point where wireless in the car feels practical instead of gimmicky.
Vent Mount Design (Good, With One Caveat)
The vent clip is solid and more refined than most. It grips tightly without feeling like it’s going to destroy your vent slats, and once installed, it stays put.
But this is still a vent mount—and that matters.
If your vehicle has weak vents, oddly shaped vents, or low placement, you may not love the positioning. In larger SUVs or trucks, vent placement can sometimes put the phone a bit lower than ideal. So if you are driving a car with round vents, these types of mounts may not be for you. I’m looking at you, Ford Mustang owners.
In a well-designed interior, though, it works great and keeps the install clean with no adhesives or suction cups.
Build Quality and Design
This is where Anker separates itself from the pack.
The mount attaches to a single vent slat using a metal hook and vice setup. Turn the knob to extend and retract the hook and get a tight hold. Once in place, it should stay steady.
The materials feel premium, the finish is clean, and the overall look fits modern interiors much better than bulky clamp-style mounts. It doesn’t scream “aftermarket accessory,” which is exactly what you want in a newer vehicle.
There’s also no annoying looseness in the joints. Once you position it, it stays where you put it.
Who This Mount Is For
Buy this if:
- You want a clean, minimal MagSafe setup
- You care about fast wireless charging in the car
- Your vents are well-positioned and sturdy
- You’re tired of bulky clamp-style mounts
Skip it if:
- Your vents are weak or oddly shaped
- You prefer a higher, eye-level mounting position
- You want a mount that works across multiple vehicles with different layouts
Common Issues to Know
1. Vent dependency
This is the biggest limitation. If your vent placement isn’t ideal, no amount of build quality fixes that.
2. Premium price
This costs more than generic magnetic mounts—but you’re paying for better magnets, better charging, and better build.
3. Heat from vents
If you blast heat in winter, your phone will feel it. That’s true for any vent mount, not just this one.
Bottom Line
The Anker Prime MagSafe Qi2 Vent Mount is one of the few magnetic mounts that actually delivers on all fronts—strong hold, usable charging, and premium construction.
We like this mount a lot and include it in our Best MagSafe Mount Guide.
It’s not a universal “best for every car” solution because of the vent limitation, but if your vehicle supports a vent mount, this is easily one of the best options available right now.
For anyone already in the MagSafe ecosystem, this is a serious upgrade over the typical cheap magnetic mounts.
