The Cobb Tuning Accessport is one of the most popular monitoring and tuning solutions available. Cobb Tuning has their headquarters in Texas. They started out tuning Subarus and have turned their Accessport line into one that can be used for multiple brands. Since this site concentrates on mounting solutions, we aren’t going into the technical details of the Accessport line, but will leave that for other review sites that have that level of expertise.
Mount Analysis
So onto the mount discussion which fortunately, we do have a lot of expertise with. The Cobb Tuning Accessport V3 comes with a cradle that the device will fit into. The back of the cradle has two slots. The Accessport V3 comes with an adhesive mount that is pretty good. The bottom of the mount features an adhesive strip. The trick to getting these to work properly is install it when the weather is not extreme (too cold or hot) and apply to a clean smooth flat area. It’s best to clean the surface with an alcohol based solution (other than beer). After you apply the mount, leave it alone for 24 hours. After a day, attach your device.
But what if you do not want to use the adhesive mount? There are situations where you may not want to stick anything to your car. Perhaps there aren’t any smooth flat surfaces to stick the adhesive mount to. The adhesive mount is short and as a result the Accessport will be almost flush to the flat surface which might be a problem.
Mount Recommendations
Fortunately there are alternative mounts available for the Accessport. A very popular option is to mount your Accessport to the windshield of the vehicle. Consider the Car Windshield Suction Cup Mount for COBB Tuning AccessPORT V3. This mount includes the dual T pattern that will fit the two slots on the back of the cradle that came with the device. Attachment to the windshield is simply a matter of putting it in place then pressing down on the vacuum lever. Very easy to install and remove.
Another great option to consider is the Car Air Vent Mount for COBB Tuning AccessPORT V3. These air vent mounts work on most vents that have horizontal slats. The mount features two arms that clip onto the vent slats. Like the windshield mount, these mounts include the pattern that fits the two slots on the back of your cradle. The mount pivots and swivels for placement at an ideal location for the driver to see it.
If you’re a traditional adhesive mount kind of guy, look at the Arkon 1.5 Inch Adhesive Car Mounting Pedestal Dual T Pattern. This mount has a an adhesive pad on the reverse side. Like the other mounts, this has the dual T pattern that fits the cradle that came with the unit. Always let these dry overnight before using and only apply it to a smooth and clean surface, free of any oils.
There are other mounts as well that feature the necessary mounting pattern for a Cobb Accessport. The key is the dual T adapter at the end.
