Finding the right Yamaha MT-07 phone mount is easier than it is on many motorcycles because Yamaha leaves plenty of usable mounting space around the handlebar. The harder part is choosing a mount that stays secure, puts the phone where you can see it, and does not turn the MT-07’s relatively clean cockpit into a pile of clamps and hardware.

Best Yamaha MT-07 phone mounts
There is no single best setup for every MT-07 rider. A Quad Lock makes sense if you want a compact system and do not mind using a compatible case. A RAM setup is better if you prefer a traditional adjustable cradle. There are also MT-07-specific mounting bases, inexpensive universal mounts, and powered mounts for riders who use their phones for navigation on longer trips.

This guide covers five different approaches rather than recommending five versions of the same handlebar clamp. Owners of the earlier Yamaha FZ-07 should also pay attention, since several of these mounting methods work well on those bikes, although model-specific brackets always need to be checked against the exact year.

1. Quad Lock Motorcycle Mount: Best Overall MT-07 Phone Mount

For most MT-07 riders, the Quad Lock Motorcycle Mount is our first choice. Its compact design works especially well on a naked bike because it does not add a large spring-loaded cradle or bulky hardware to the handlebar.

The main tradeoff is that Quad Lock is a system. You need a compatible phone case or adapter rather than simply dropping any phone into a universal cradle. If you are comfortable with that, the result is one of the cleaner ways to keep a phone mounted on an MT-07.

For motorcycle use, we would pair the mount with the separate Quad Lock Vibration Dampener. Motorcycle vibration can be hard on the optical image stabilization hardware used in many modern smartphone cameras. Quad Lock specifically designed its dampener to isolate the phone from high-frequency vibration and recommends it with its motorcycle mounting systems.

This is particularly appealing on an MT-07 because you can keep the entire installation close to the bar instead of stacking a long arm and cradle above the controls.

Best for: Riders who want a compact, polished-looking mount and regularly use their phone for navigation.

2. RAM X-Grip Tough-Claw: Best Universal MT-07 Phone Mount

The RAM X-Grip Tough-Claw takes almost the opposite approach from Quad Lock. Instead of requiring a dedicated phone case, the X-Grip is a universal cradle that holds a wide range of smartphones.

The RAM system also gives you a lot of positioning flexibility. The familiar 1-inch ball-and-socket design lets you change the height and angle of the phone and move it away from gauges or controls.

That flexibility is useful on the MT-07. Riders differ considerably in where they want the phone positioned. Some prefer it low and close to the center of the cockpit. Others want it farther toward one side so it does not compete visually with the instrument display.

The Tough-Claw base also makes this setup easy to remove or reposition without committing to a permanent installation.

The downside is bulk. An X-Grip, arm and clamp occupy more space than the Quad Lock arrangement. If keeping the MT-07 cockpit as clean as possible is your priority, the Quad Lock or xitomer option below may be preferable.

Best for: Riders who change phones frequently, use different phones on the motorcycle, or want maximum positioning flexibility without buying a dedicated phone case.

3. xitomer 1-Inch Ball Mount: Best MT-07-Specific Mounting Base

The xitomer MT-07 mount is the most interesting option in this guide because it is not another universal handlebar phone holder.

It is a motorcycle-specific mounting bracket that ends in a 1-inch ball. That makes it compatible with the common B-size ball-and-socket ecosystem used for motorcycle phone and GPS mounting.

Instead of clamping another accessory around the handlebar, the xitomer creates a dedicated mounting point on compatible MT-07 models. You can then add a double-socket arm and the phone cradle or GPS holder of your choice.

For riders who already own RAM-style components, this can be a particularly useful solution. You are not buying another complete ecosystem. You are adding a motorcycle-specific base to components you may already have.

It also gives you more freedom than a fixed proprietary phone holder. The same 1-inch ball can support a phone cradle today and a GPS cradle later.

Pay Attention to MT-07 Model-Year Compatibility

This is the one product in our list where you need to pay especially close attention to the model year.

The current xitomer listing specifically identifies compatibility with MT-07 models from 2014 through 2022 and also lists the MT-07 Pure 2024. Do not assume that means every MT-07 from every year uses the same mounting arrangement.

That matters because Yamaha has revised the MT-07 cockpit over the years. A motorcycle-specific bracket that fits one generation should never be treated like a universal handlebar clamp.

If your exact year is not listed by the manufacturer, use one of the universal handlebar options instead.

Best for: Riders who want a dedicated MT-07 mounting point or already own RAM-compatible 1-inch ball components.

4. BRCOVAN Anti-Theft Motorcycle Phone Mount: Best Value

The BRCOVAN anti-theft motorcycle phone mount is a good middle ground for an MT-07 owner who wants more than a basic bargain phone clamp but does not want to buy into a proprietary mounting system.

It uses a universal phone cradle, so there is no special case to buy. It also incorporates vibration damping, which is a worthwhile feature on a motorcycle-mounted phone.

This style of mount is particularly useful if you sometimes ride with different phones or use a protective case that is not available in a dedicated mounting ecosystem.

It is physically larger than the Quad Lock. That is the tradeoff. You gain broad phone compatibility, but the cradle is more noticeable when the phone is removed.

For many MT-07 riders, that is a reasonable compromise given the feature set.

Best for: Riders who want a universal cradle and vibration damping without moving into a dedicated phone-case mounting system.

5. BRCOVAN Charging Phone Mount: Best for Navigation

If you regularly use your phone as a GPS, the BRCOVAN charging motorcycle mount solves another problem: keeping the phone powered during longer rides.

Navigation, a bright display, cellular data and Bluetooth can drain a phone surprisingly quickly. A powered mount lets you keep navigation running without starting the ride with a full battery and ending it hunting for a charger.

The BRCOVAN combines a universal phone holder with charging capability and vibration damping. That makes it more complex than a passive mount, but it also replaces several separate accessories.

This is the selection we would consider for an MT-07 used for longer trips, commuting with navigation, or touring where the phone stays on the bike for hours at a time.

Installation is naturally more involved than attaching a passive handlebar mount because power needs to be routed cleanly and safely. If you rarely need charging while riding, there is little reason to add that complexity.

Best for: MT-07 riders who routinely use navigation and want to charge their phone while riding.

Where Should You Mount a Phone on a Yamaha MT-07?

The exposed handlebar on the MT-07 gives you several usable positions, but that does not mean every open section of bar is equally good.

Start by sitting on the motorcycle in your normal riding position. The phone should be visible with a quick glance without blocking the instrument panel. Turn the bars fully left and right before tightening anything permanently.

Check clearance around:

  • The fuel tank at full steering lock
  • Brake and clutch controls
  • Switchgear
  • Instrument display
  • Ignition access
  • Cables and brake lines

A mounting position that looks fine with the handlebars centered can become a problem once the bars are turned completely.

We generally prefer keeping a phone reasonably low and near the center of the cockpit. A long mounting arm can create more vibration and puts additional leverage on the base.

Handlebar Mount vs. MT-07-Specific Mount

For most owners, a handlebar mount is the easiest choice.

Quad Lock, RAM and BRCOVAN can all be installed without buying a bracket designed for one exact motorcycle generation. That also means you can usually move the mount to another motorcycle later.

A model-specific base such as the xitomer takes a different approach. Instead of finding room for another handlebar clamp, it creates a dedicated accessory mounting point.

The advantage is a cleaner installation and access to the huge range of components based around the standard 1-inch ball format.

The disadvantage is fitment. When the motorcycle manufacturer changes the cockpit or mounting points, the bracket may no longer fit.

Do You Need a Vibration Dampener on an MT-07?

If your phone has an advanced camera with optical image stabilization, we strongly prefer using a vibration-damped mounting setup on a motorcycle.

This is not unique to the MT-07. Motorcycle vibration can reach a phone through any rigid mounting system. Quad Lock specifically recommends its vibration dampener with its motorcycle mounts and says the accessory is designed to isolate harmful high-frequency vibration before it reaches the phone.

That is why our preferred Quad Lock configuration includes the separate vibration dampener rather than recommending the basic mount alone.

The two BRCOVAN selections also provide vibration-damping features within their respective mounting systems.

What About the Yamaha FZ-07?

If you own an FZ-07, you are looking at the earlier U.S. naming of the same basic motorcycle family, which is why searches for FZ-07 phone mounts still show up alongside MT-07 searches.

The universal Quad Lock, RAM and BRCOVAN handlebar options are the easiest products to consider because they do not depend on one specific MT-07 bracket mounting point.

The xitomer listing also covers specified earlier MT-07 applications, but always verify your exact year before ordering a motorcycle-specific bracket.

This is especially important with products whose listing titles contain a long range of years. A universal handlebar clamp and a model-specific metal bracket should not be evaluated the same way.

Which Yamaha MT-07 Phone Mount Should You Buy?

For most riders, we would start with the Quad Lock Motorcycle Mount and Vibration Dampener. It gives the MT-07 a compact installation and avoids the bulky look of many universal cradles.

If you do not want a dedicated phone case, the RAM X-Grip Tough-Claw is the more flexible choice.

The xitomer 1-inch ball mount is our favorite option for riders specifically looking for an MT-07 mounting base rather than another handlebar clamp. It is particularly attractive if you already own RAM-compatible arms and cradles.

The standard BRCOVAN is the value choice, while the powered BRCOVAN makes the most sense for riders who frequently use their phones for navigation on longer rides.

Whichever design you choose, check full steering movement, control clearance and model-year compatibility before heading out. A properly positioned phone should be easy to glance at without interfering with the controls or dominating the MT-07 cockpit.
