The right eufy S40 mount can give the SoloCam S40 much more placement flexibility than the bracket included with the camera. Because the S40 uses a standard rear 1/4″-20 camera thread, you are not limited to mounting it directly to a flat wall.

The eufy SoloCam S40 is an older solar security camera, but there are still plenty of them in use. Its integrated solar panel also makes mounting location especially important. You need a clear view for the camera while giving the solar panel enough direct sunlight to keep the battery charged.

If you have the newer pan-and-tilt model, see our eufy SoloCam S340 mount guide. The S340 uses a different camera design and gives you additional mounting options, including corner and pole installations.

Why the eufy SoloCam S40 Works With Other Camera Mounts

The SoloCam S40 has a standard 1/4″-20 threaded mounting hole on the rear of the camera. That is the same basic camera-mounting standard used by a large amount of photography and security-camera hardware.

That gives you considerably more freedom than a proprietary mounting system.

Useful alternatives include:

  • Longer articulated wall arms
  • Gutter clamps
  • Vinyl siding mounts
  • Magnetic camera bases
  • Other outdoor mounts using a standard camera screw

The S40 is also a fairly substantial battery camera because the battery and solar panel are both built into the camera body. I would avoid tiny lightweight brackets intended for webcams or small indoor cameras.

You want a mount that can hold its position after you have adjusted the camera.

For more universal hardware, see our outdoor security camera mount guide.

1. Arkon Camera Wall Mount: Best Wall-Mount Upgrade

The Arkon camera wall mount is a good choice when you like the S40’s current general location but want more reach and adjustment than the included bracket provides.

The longer arm moves the camera farther away from the mounting surface and gives you several points of adjustment. That extra clearance helps when the camera needs to look around trim, a corner, or another obstruction.

It can also make it easier to get the S40 pointed downward from a higher mounting position.

The Arkon is particularly useful for:

  • Garage walls
  • Wood trim
  • Masonry when installed with the proper anchors
  • Locations where the stock bracket does not provide enough reach

This is still a permanent installation, so it makes the most sense when you already know where the S40 needs to go.

Best for: A solid wall where you want more reach and adjustment than the stock S40 bracket provides.

2. Wochel Gutter Mount: Best No-Drill S40 Option

A gutter mount is particularly useful with the SoloCam S40 because it can improve both camera placement and solar exposure.

The Wochel two-pack clamps directly onto the gutter, so you do not need to drill holes into siding, fascia, or trim. Its adjustable ball joint lets you rotate and angle the camera after installation.

Wochel specifically lists compatibility with several eufy cameras, including the SoloCam S220 and C210 along with multiple eufyCam models. The manufacturer does not list the SoloCam S40 by name, but it also states that the mount fits other eufy cameras using a 1/4-inch threaded mounting hole.

The S40 uses that standard threaded camera connection.

That makes this a universal-thread fit rather than an S40-specific bracket.

A gutter location has another advantage with the S40. Because its solar panel is integrated into the top of the camera, a location tucked underneath a deep eave may receive too little direct sunlight.

Moving the camera toward the roof edge can expose the panel to more sun while also giving the camera a clearer view.

The Wochel bracket is designed for gutters up to about 0.79 inch thick, so check your gutter before ordering.

Best for: Garages, driveways and side yards where the gutter provides a clear view and good solar exposure.

Skip it if: Your gutter is loose, damaged, unusually thick, or located in a heavily shaded area.

3. Holicfun Vinyl Siding Mount: Best for Siding Without Drilling

If your house has conventional horizontal vinyl siding, a siding mount gives you another way to install the S40 without putting permanent holes into the exterior.

The Holicfun bracket hooks into the seam between siding panels and gives the camera a standard threaded mounting point.

That is a better approach than trying to stick a heavy outdoor camera directly to vinyl with adhesive.

A siding mount is also helpful when you are not certain where the S40 should stay permanently.

Solar exposure changes considerably from one side of a house to another. A location that looks perfect when you first install the camera may spend too much of the day shaded by the roof, a tree, or another part of the house.

With a siding mount, you can move the camera without leaving a row of abandoned screw holes.

Best for: Standard horizontal vinyl siding where you want a removable S40 installation.

Skip it if: Your house has brick, stucco, fiber cement, wood siding, vertical siding, or another exterior without a suitable siding seam.

4. HOLACA Magnetic Mount: Best for Steel Surfaces

A magnetic camera mount is a specialty option, but it can work well when you have the right surface.

The HOLACA magnetic base lets you mount a compatible camera on a solid ferrous metal surface without drilling holes.

Potential mounting locations include:

  • Steel posts
  • Metal sheds
  • Steel structural brackets
  • Some utility structures
  • Other solid magnetic surfaces

The main advantage is easy repositioning.

You can test the S40 at one height, check the live view and sun exposure, and then move it without damaging the mounting surface.

Do not assume every metal surface will work. Aluminum gutters and aluminum siding are not suitable for a magnetic mount, and some grades of stainless steel have weak or no magnetic attraction.

The surface itself also needs to be rigid. A powerful magnet attached to a thin, vibrating sheet of metal does not make a stable camera installation.

Best for: S40 installations where you have a strong, rigid steel mounting surface available.

What I Would Avoid With the SoloCam S40

Not every mount that accepts a camera screw is a good choice for the S40.

Suction cup mounts: The S40 is designed to operate outside. Putting it behind glass creates problems for PIR motion detection and night vision, while also preventing the integrated solar panel from working as intended.

Small adhesive mounts: The S40 has more mass than a compact indoor camera and lives outdoors through heat, rain, cold and temperature swings. A mechanical attachment is a better long-term choice.

Tiny plastic tripod heads: The thread may fit, but that does not mean the mount is strong enough to hold the S40 at an angle without slowly drifting.

Separate solar panel mounts: The S40’s panel is built into the camera. You cannot relocate it independently the way you can with the newer SoloCam S340.

SoloCam S40 vs SoloCam S340 Mounting

The SoloCam S40 and SoloCam S340 are very different cameras, and their mounting strategies are different too.

The SoloCam S40 is a fixed-view camera with its solar panel integrated into the top of the camera body.

The SoloCam S340 is a dual-lens pan-and-tilt camera. Its solar panel can remain with the camera or be mounted separately.

That difference matters.

With the S40, the camera needs to be positioned where the lens has the view you want and where the built-in solar panel gets enough sunlight.

With the S340, you can optimize the camera position and solar-panel position separately. Its pan-and-tilt design also makes corner and pole mounting much more useful.

If you are replacing an S40 or mounting the newer model, see our eufy SoloCam S340 mount guide.

Where Should You Mount the eufy SoloCam S40?

eufy recommends mounting the SoloCam S40 roughly 7 to 10 feet above the ground.

That range keeps the camera above easy reach while maintaining a useful angle for motion detection and identification.

Solar exposure is just as important.

The S40’s solar panel is part of the camera, so you cannot choose the best camera position first and move the panel somewhere else later.

Before permanently mounting the camera:

  • Check the live view from the proposed position.
  • Make sure people will cross the camera’s detection area rather than only walking directly toward it.
  • Watch the location during the day to see how much direct sunlight it receives.
  • Check Wi-Fi strength from the exact mounting location.
  • Avoid deep eaves that shade the integrated solar panel for most of the day.
  • Make sure nearby walls or trim do not dominate the night-vision image.

Solar exposure can change by season, so a location with excellent summer sunlight can become much more shaded during another part of the year.

Is the Stock SoloCam S40 Mount Good Enough?

For a basic wall installation, yes.

The included mount works when you have a solid, flat surface and the camera can get the angle and sunlight it needs.

There is no reason to replace it just because aftermarket hardware exists.

An aftermarket mount becomes useful when the location creates the problem.

Use the Arkon when you need more reach or articulation from a wall.

Use the Wochel gutter mount when the roof edge gives you a better viewing angle or more direct sunlight without drilling.

Use the Holicfun siding mount when you have vinyl siding and want a removable installation.

Use the HOLACA magnetic mount when you have a suitable steel surface.

Which eufy S40 Mount Would I Choose?

For a normal permanent wall installation, I would stay with the stock mount unless I needed more adjustment. In that case, the Arkon wall mount gives the S40 considerably more positioning freedom.

For a no-drill installation, I like the Wochel gutter mount when the gutter location provides both a good camera view and useful sunlight. The S40’s integrated solar panel makes that second part important.

If the house has horizontal vinyl siding and the gutter is not in the right location, the Holicfun siding mount is the cleaner alternative.

The magnetic mount is the specialized choice. It can be excellent when the property gives you the right steel surface, but it will not apply to every installation.
