It’s an extremely well made mount that is made of metal. It comes delivered in one piece. No assembly required. I selected the white variety but it also comes in black.
You can see the included micro USB cable that is integrated into the mount. It’s an extremely long cable suitable for running along a wall or shingle to the outlet. This mount is typically used outdoors but can also be deployed as an indoor mount. As an outdoor mount, one could certainly opt for the Nest Cam Outdoor instead. However, if you already have a Nest Cam indoor camera, this mount provides adequate weather protection for outdoor deployment.
The DropCases Gooseneck Mount for Nest Cam or DropCam Pro consists of a 7.5 inch bendable gooseneck sandwiched between a round mounting platform and weatherproof enclosure for the camera. A micro USB cable attaches within the enclosure.
The enclosure has a clear lens that unscrews from the case. The Nest Cam or DropCam Pro needs to be removed from the stand. That’s easy to do, simply press down the two small tabs on each side of the camera lens and push it through the stand.
Now you can insert the round camera into the weatherproof enclosure. Attach the micro USB cable then seat the camera properly. That’s simple as the mount has a cutout for the micro USB profile. This serves to ensure your camera doesn’t go off course and remains stable.
Next, screw the clear lens back onto the mount. Now it’s all assembled and ready to be permanently mounted to a wall or any flat surface. The mounting base has several screw holes for attachment.
I like putting outdoor cameras high and out of reach. I think the biggest challenge on any outdoor camera is going to be power. Sure, there are a few truly wireless varieties like the Arlo Pro which just uses batteries but most need to be plugged into a wall. A weatherproof receptacle is required.

Coupled with the flexible gooseneck stem, it’s a lot easier to angle the camera for the best video.
