Garmin Nuvi Car Air Vent Mount Product Spotlight

The Garmin Nuvi series has been around for many years.  Ironically, the Garmin Nuvi Car Air Vent Mount was only recently introduced.  This was a real lost opportunity as several well known manufacturers sold thousands, perhaps millions of vent mounts at the expense of Garmin.  A real lost opportunity. The air vent is one of my favorite mounting locations.  I like it because it keeps the device near your line of site where it’s easy to see.  I also like the fact that it keeps your device out of clear site of any potential bad guys.  A vent mount is not … Read more

Car Dash Mounts for Garmin NuviCam LMTHD

Garmin NuviCam LMTHD was introduced a short time back and has caught on to become quite popular.  Makes sense.  Dash cameras have become extraordinarily popular so Garmin combined the best of a GPS with a very good dash cam.  The camera paired with the 6″ GPS provides collision avoidance alerts if following too close to the car in front of you.  It also will provide lane departure alerts if you drift off the road or onto oncoming traffic.  The device also provides a high-definition camera which continually records your drive.  The camera is mounted on the back of the GPS so … Read more

Car Mounts for Garmin NuviCam LMTHD GPS and Dash Cam

The Garmin NuviCam LMTHD seems like a great idea.  Combining a high quality high definition display GPS with a high resolution camera provides a lot of feature potential.  Garmin claims this device will be able to provide you with advanced features which cost thousands of dollars in many car models.  The camera paired with the 6″ GPS provides collision avoidance alerts if following too close to the car in front of you.  It also will provide lane departure alerts if you drift off the road or onto oncoming traffic.  The device also provides a high resolution camera which continually records your … Read more

Arkon RoadVise Smartphone Holder

The Arkon RoadVise Smartphone Holder is a cradle that’s designed to use in rugged environments such as a motorcycle. This is a good multi-purpose cradle as it can be used for smartphones as well as a GPS.  This isn’t one of those cradles made to operate with one hand.  You will need two hands to open and close due to the fact that the grip is purposely made to form a firm grip around your device.  The sides of the grips are padded to prevent marring and opens to 4 inches.  That’s a fairly sizable opening for a cradle.  To put … Read more

Mounts for Garmin Dash Cam 35 and Dash Cam 30

Garmin made a decision a few years ago to enter the camera market.  They recently released a refresh to their dash camera line with the introduction of the Garmin Dash Cam 35 and Garmin Dash Cam 30.  These cameras sport a way different body style versus their predecessors which were the Dash Cam 10 and Dash Cam 20 which we wrote about here.  They then followed this up with the well reviewed NuviCam which we wrote about here. Both models use incident detection via G-Sensor which automatically saves footage of collisions.  The Dash Cam 30 and Dash Cam 35 have … Read more

DSLR Camera Hot Shoe Mounts for SmartPhones and iPhones

I was recently introduced to the integration of DSLR cameras and smartphones.  There are a few advantages to mounting a phone to a hot shoe.  New applications such as Facebook Live and Periscope necessitate the need for multiple devices to shoot photos or videos of the same subject simultaneously.  Then there are useful applications such as the level app to ensure that your camera is level when shooting the photo.  You need to mount the smartphone to your camera to do this.  That’s where hot shoe mounts come into play. Most hot shoe mounts use a similar technique to mount to attach … Read more
