Mounts for the Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited Motorcycle

The Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited is almost as large as an SUV.  It also costs as much as an SUV.  This is a seriously large motorcycle.  You would think there’s plenty of good places to mount a phone or GPS but surprisingly not. We have the usual photo with this article that shows the Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited cockpit.  It’s a busy cockpit.  We’re going to concentrate on a few locations for consideration when mounting a smartphone or GPS. The Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited handlebar is a standard diameter.  That’s good.  It means most motorcycle handlebar mounts should fit fine.  Except for one thing.  It slopes … Read more

Car and Motorcycle Mounts for the LG G6 Smartphone

I’m beginning to think I should have shopped around some more for my latest Android smartphone.  The LG G6 is a big impressive phone that currently sells for about the same as my Samsung Galaxy S7 with better features and doesn’t have the annoying beveled edge. The LG G6 has a lot to talk about beyond the size (which is big).  The camera features dual rear 13 megapixel cameras that provide a 125 degree wide-angle view.  The 5.7 inch display has an 80% body to screen ratio and a 2880 x 1440 display.  An IP68 waterproof rating means you can get it wet and not have … Read more

Car and Motorcycle Mounts for the LG V20 Smartphone

My what a big phone you have!  The LG V20 was recently introduced with some excellent features that rival the other major manufacturers Android 7 phones. It’s a big phone.  Sporting a large 5.7″ diagonal screen, this phone measures 6.29 x 3.07 x 0.30 inches (159.7 x 78.1 x 7.6 mm).  These are the key measurements for selecting your mount.  Mounts with custom cradles for a different phone are unlikely to fit the LG V20.  For those that have a universal mount, hopefully it opens wide enough to hold the LG V20 without a problem. Some universal mounts offer options to upgrade your … Read more

Garmin Rino Mounts for the Car, Boat or Handlebar

I remember the Garmin Rino 110 when it was first introduced about ten years ago.  It was a unique product combining two-way radio and GPS capabilities.  Interestingly enough, the Garmin Rino is still a viable device.  Garmin has updated it several times with the latest Garmin Rino 755t having a three-inch color screen and features such as weather reports and a waterproof rating of IPX7. The interesting thing about the Garmin Rino is that the basic shape hasn’t changed very much.  Some of the mounts available for the current series even fit the older ones.  We will look at a … Read more

Magellan eXplorist TRX7 Mounts for ATV, UTV and 4x4s

We do not write much about Magellan devices.  No longer the large player they were ten years back, they have a much smaller distribution versus their competition.  The Magellan eXplorist TRX7 was introduced a short time ago to fill an interesting void.  The intended audience of the Magellan eXplorist TRX7 is the off-road crowd.  We’re talking about a 4×4, UTV or ATV vehicle. What makes the Magellan eXplorist TRX7 suited for off-road use?  A few options.  First the device is rated as IP67 which means it’s protected against the effect of water up to one meter deep.  That means it’s weatherproof.  Note the term weatherproof. … Read more

Arkon Mega Grip Cradle and Mounts Still One of My Favorites

The Arkon Mega Grip cradle has been around for many years.  It remains one of my favorites and in fact, this is one of the mounts that I use regularly for my Apple iPhone 6s Plus. There’s a lot top like about this holder.  Unlike most expandable cradles, this opens with a button on the side.  It’s one of the few cradles that can be operated with one hand.  Press the button and the arms on both sides snap open.  The cradle is well made and can be easily closed around the device by simply pressing the sides against the … Read more
