The phone comes in at a size of 5.67 x 2.73 x 0.32 inches. That means most mounts, in theory, should fit fine. Blowing a hole in that theory are the volume buttons on the side. We’re going to need to find a cradle that will not press those buttons for us. We also want to keep the bottom accessible for the USB power cable. Maybe this isn’t going to be that easy.
Before discussing mounts, here’s a recommendation. Get a good case. My last phone cracked within a few days. Eventually, the USB port failed and here I am today, with a new Google Pixel 4a. I always like the Otterbox line of case and made sure to get that before the phone arrived.
It’s been awhile since we looked at mounts for a Google Pixel. Several years in fact as we last looked at mounts for a Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL. Seems like not too long ago, but in fact, it’s been almost three years. The Pixel line continues to be a well made phone, priced less than an iPhone or Samsung.
Car Mount Recommendations for a Google Pixel 4a
The photo accompanying this article shows the Google Pixel 4a encased in an Otterbox Commuter Case using a Square Jellyfish Jelly-Grip Car Air Vent Mount. The Square Jellyfish Jelly-Grip will hold the phone with or without a case. Just be sure to use the cradle below the volume buttons on the side.
It has a ball and socket so the cradle swivels into any orientation. This mount will work on vent slats that are 3/8 to 1 inch deep. The included cradle opens to 3 5/8 inches which gives us plenty of room even if your phone has a thick case.
Another good option for a Google Pixel 4a is the Arkon Mobile Grip 2 Phone Holder which has an expandable cradle that opens to 3.6 inches. The mount features a sticky suction cup that can attach to a windshield or dashboard. It also includes an adhesive disk which can optionally be used in conjunction with the mount. The cradle attaches to a ball and socket so the phone can swivel into any orientation. This mount comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
Motorcycle Mounts for a Google Pixel 4a
We want to maintain the same theme of using a side grip cradle along with a good mount. Need to keep the volume buttons from getting pushed in.
Consider combining the Arkon Roadvise Handlebar Mount. The mount combines a cradle that opens to four inches with a handlebar mount that fits diameters up to 1.25 inches.
The mount uses a pair of Phillips screws to attach to the handlebar. Included rubber strips should be used to prevent marring of any chrome. Safety is of utmost important on a motorcycle so follow the installation instructions to bee sure this mount is solidly installed and keep your focus on the road.
