The Escort Passport S55 Radar Detector was introduced a few years ago and continues to be very popular. It will detect K and Ka bands of speed enforcement radar. But there’s a lot of radar detectors that can do this. The mount that is provided with the Escort Passport S55 is the usual Escort double suction cup with a tab which fits into the slot at the top of the radar detector. Be sure to clean your windshield well prior to adhesion. The mount is ok in low vibration environments and in moderate climates should work well for several years. You might also be able to simply replace the suction cups on the mount if you can find them.

This is the mount that is in deployed in the photo that accompanies this article. Like the stock mount, this one has the tab that slides into the slot at the top of the Escort Passport S55. Unlike the stock mount, this one has a single larger suction cup that will hold up better. There is an adjustment point halfway up the mount. The mount has a vacuum feature to drastically improve the suction functionality. The manufacturer provides a 2-year warranty on this mount.
With all suction mounts that deploy the metal tab, be sure to press the button on top of the detector while inserting the mount. Release the button when the tab is inserted all the way in. You will have a secure attachment after releasing the button.
Who says that a radar detector has to be attached to your windshield? Certainly not California or Minnesota where, as outlined in our article, mounting to your windshield is against the law. Let’s take a look at what is out there for places other than your windshield.

The Escort Visor Mount for Radar Detectors is ok to use as long as looking at the message screen on the Escort Passport S55 is unimportant to you. This is a mount that you would use when there aren’t any passengers as the power cable will dangle across their lap.
Select the location that’s not going to interfere with your driving, is legal to use in your state and is easy to remove. This is one of the more expensive radar detectors on the market so you don’t want to leave it in the car, therefore select a mount that’s easily portable.
