Home Mounts for the Zmodo HD Wireless Bullet Outdoor Camera

The Zmodo HD Wireless Bullet Outdoor Camera comes from a company that’s been around the home security camera arena for some time.  The camera is an inexpensive and reliable option for those wanting an outdoor bullet camera. The Zmodo HD Wireless Bullet Outdoor Camera is made of metal and is fairly heavy coming in at about one pound.  Any alternative mount needs to be sturdy enough to handle the heavier device.  A mount made for a lightweight camera will not work. A decent mount is provided with the Zmodo camera.  It’s a ball and socket design that is fairly short. … Read more

Mounts for the Garmin Striker 7 Fishfinder

Two Garmin Striker 7 models were recently introduced to fill the mid-tier market.  When I compare the Garmin Striker 7 to what one would purchase a few years ago, there are a slew of improvements in mapping features, color display and transducers. There are two models for this series.  From a pure mounting perspective, the Garmin Striker 7sv and Striker 7cv are the same.  Any mount that fits one model, will fit the other. Installation typically requires use of two cables.  One for power.  The second for a transducer.  It’s worth noting that the transducer is included with the Garmin Striker 7sv and Striker 7cv. … Read more

Mounts for the Garmin inReach Explorer+ and inReach SE+ GPS

Garmin recently closed their purchase of Delorme and integrated their popular inReach line of handheld GPS devices.  The first of the new lineup includes the Garmin inReach Explorer+ and Garmin InReach SE+.  Reminds me a bit of the old Garmin eTrex line but with much improved software.  These handheld devices are great for hikers or geocaching and can even be used in the car or on a motorcycle. Garmin integrated the Delorme Earthmate maps into these handheld devices.  However, I think the most important differentiation in these devices is the availability of Iridium Satellite coverage which enables 2-way text messaging from … Read more

My Experience with the Otterbox Alpha Glass Screen Protector

I recently tried the Otterbox Alpha Glass Screen Protector for a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.  This product, made by Otterbox, is designed to work with their line of cases.  The fortified glass custom fit protector is made to help protect an expensive smartphone from screen damage. There are a lot of companies that make tempered glass, albeit not as any for a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.  So how is Otterbox Alpha Glass different from the rest? What sets Otterbox Alpha Glass from … Read more
