Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Service Van

A service van such as the one that is in the photo has some unique physical characteristics.  I suppose they’re all different but the ones I have been inside have a small hood and for reasons I still can’t figure out, the drivers always seem to following the guy in front of them too closely.  Maybe they were just messing with me, but I had to ask they make special accommodations to keep me from jumping out of the van. We’re not talking about a mini van today.  We’re talking about a service van.  This is a full size van.  The … Read more

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Nissan Sentra

A recent oil change pilgrimage to my local Nissan dealer left some time to check out the showroom.  One of the cars I was able to get a close look at was the Nissan Sentra.  Like practically any model, there are some places that work well for mounting a device and a few that don’t work too well. As always, a photo of the interior is attached to this article.  There are a few interesting design characteristics.  This is the first car I have seen where the vents are concave.  That’s right, they turn inwards. On a smaller car, the windshield … Read more

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Jeep Wrangler

Jeep Wrangler.  Rugged.  Drives through anything.  People that have them usually love them.  But when it comes to mounts, this is a bit of a challenge. I guess that comes as no surprise.  Previous experiences with the Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass have shown that finding good mount spots in Jeeps aren’t easy.  Several of the traditional and favorite spots for mounting a smartphone, GPS or tablet aren’t going to work well in a Jeep Wrangler.  Interestingly enough, we did find a some mounts that aren’t available in other Jeep models. First let get places that won’t work out of … Read more

Phone and GPS Mounts for a Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass is your basic small to intermediate size SUV.  Basic except for the mounting options.  Lots of non-traditional design points like round vents, sloping windshield and a raised seat rail. Those design features do not typically bode well for mounting a tablet, GPS or phone.  That’s a photo of the dash accompanying this article.  While somewhat restricted in mounting locations, we were able to find some good locations for mounting mobile electronics. Good news is that a windshield mount will work fine for smartphone or GPS.  The next place I’ll recommend my go-to mount which is the Arkon MegaGrip … Read more

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Chevy Traverse

Like many SUVs on the market, the Chevy Traverse provides many options for mounting a GPS, phone or tablet.  The Chevy Traverse has a large interior and while there are a few locations that will not work, most places will work out just fine.  Good job Chevy. A photo of the interior of a Chevy Traverse accompanies this article.   The dash s large enough to access practically all popular locations that we typically recommend. A vent mount is probably the best for a phone or GPS.  The center vents in the Chevy Traverse are likely the best location.  The Square … Read more

Arkon Mega Grip Cradle and Mounts Still One of My Favorites

The Arkon Mega Grip cradle has been around for many years.  It remains one of my favorites and in fact, this is one of the mounts that I use regularly for my Apple iPhone 6s Plus. There’s a lot top like about this holder.  Unlike most expandable cradles, this opens with a button on the side.  It’s one of the few cradles that can be operated with one hand.  Press the button and the arms on both sides snap open.  The cradle is well made and can be easily closed around the device by simply pressing the sides against the … Read more
