Arkon RDMET01 Radar Detector Mount for Escort and Beltronics Review

You purchase a new Escort Passport 9500ix radar detector for hundreds of dollars.  The box it arrived in is substantial reminding me of the feeling you get when opening the box to a new Apple iPad (it probably costs as much).  Everything is there that you need to use your new radar detector.  Take a look at the mount.  It’s a small unsubstantial mount with tiny suction cups.  That’s where the Arkon RDMET01 Radar Detector Mount comes into play. Arkon has been making mounts for a long time.  My first exposure to them was with an XM satellite radio.  They … Read more…

Car Mounts for the Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector

The Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector is one of the more popular radar detectors manufactured by Escort over the past several years.  While it will work well for many years, the car mount will not. There’s a good chance that the Escort Passport 8500 X50 radar detector will outlast the mount.  This is a well made and expensive radar detector.  Unfortunately the mount isn’t made as well as the radar detector.  The small suction cups will likely lose suction after a year or two.  This is especially going to be the case if living in extreme climates. The mount that is … Read more…

Car Mounts for the Rocky Mountain Phantom-T Radar Detector

The Rocky Mountain Phantom-T radar detector is a tried and true device which has worked well for me over the years.  However, the included mount leaves a lot to be desired.  This is an expensive radar detector, yet the included mount leaves something to be desired. How to Mount an Escort Radar Detector to a Rear View Mirror

There are only a few locations that work best when mounting a radar detector.  While a radar detector can technically be mounted almost anywhere, somewhere near the windshield works best.  That leaves your choices to a windshield mount, dash mount or your rear view mirror.  Escort makes some of the best radar detectors including the 9500ix, 8500×50, Solo S3, Redline Series.  Today we discuss how to mount an Escort radar detector to a rear view mirror. Almost all Escort radar detectors utilize a mounting system that utilizes a slot at the top of the device (the Escort Max series is an exception). … Read more…

Radar Detector Motorcycle Mounts

I know I shouldn’t speed and I typically don’t but it sure is nice to know when to look down at my speedometer to ensure that I am at or below the current speed limit.  Using a radar detector is legal within most US states.  They are simply to attach to any car windshield using the included suction mount that comes with the radar detector.  Not so simple when it comes to a motorcycle.  We never recommend using a suction cup on a motorcycle but especially not the ones that come with most radar detectors.  They are way too small … Read more…

Radar Detector Mounts for Escort, Beltronics, Uniden and Others

There are so many different brands of radar detectors on the market.  Most come with a bracket to clip to your visor or suction attachment for your windshield.  But what if you want to attach it elsewhere or have lost your mount.  It’s difficult to find replacement radar detector mounts.  We have even heard of some that trash the radar detector and buy another because they lost their mount.  We also receive a lot of inquiries from people that would like to mount their Escort, Beltronics, Uniden, Rocky Mountain, Cobra, Whistler or whatever brand out there in some unusual places … Read more…
