Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Hyundai Tucson

The Hyundai Tucson was a bit more roomy than expected.  It also was easier to mount a phone or GPS than expected.  As expected in a smaller SUV, mounting a tablet isn’t easy but more on that later in the article. A photo of the Hyundai Tucson interior accompanies this article.  There are a few notable characteristics that effect mounting a device.  We will mention them as we move through this article. Starting with the vent, the distance between the left middle vent and wiper lever is less than most other vehicles.  It might get in the way of a GPS … Read more

Car and Motorcycle Mounts for the Sony Xperia XZ Premium Smartphone

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is a nice entry in the arena of higher end smartphones for Android fans.  A little bump in the RAM to 4 GB versus the 3 GB on the standard Sony Xperia XZ makes this phone worth a look.  The extra 33% boost in RAM makes a big difference in performance. The features a respectable 5.46 inch 3840 x 2160 pixel diagonal display.  The main camera checks in with a semi insane 19 MP lens.  Measuring 6.14 x 3.03 x 0.31 inches, this is a larger phone that will need a mount that features a cradle … Read more

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Nissan Altima

This was an easy one.  The Nissan Altima can work with almost any mount.  This might be the easiest vehicle of them all to mount a smartphone or GPS.  A tablet is a little trickier due to the size of the car.  Not a lot that will not work in this car but there are a few locations that will work better than others. Car and Motorcycle Mounts for the HTC One M9 Smartphone

The HTC One M9 is another excellent entry from HTC.  Released with Android 5.1, it will also support Marshmallow 6.0.  This is one of the few phones I have seen with the Corning Gorilla Glass-4 which means scratch-resistant glass and potentially no need for a screen protector. With a now common 5.0 inch diagonal screen this phone measures 5.69 x 2.74 x 0.38 inches (144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61 mm).  These are important measurements to keep in mind when selecting your mount.  I’m not aware of any custom mounts for the HTC One M9 so we are going to discuss universal mounts.  The HTC … Read more

Does anyone really use these any longer for CDs?  Digital content has made the CD player an almost useless device in most cars.  It’s so much easier to load your content to your smartphone and then stream the audio to your car speakers.  Most vehicles manufactured over the past several years have a USB port and an interface for streaming your music.  Some permit use of Bluetooth.  Others may use an FM transmitter connected to your device.  You can read about FM transmitters here. So what you do with the CD Player?  Use it as a place to mount your … Read more
