Phone and GPS Mounts for a Nissan Rogue

It was time for maintenance on my new Nissan so that gave me some time to check the showroom at the dealership.  I wanted to take a close look at the Nissan Rogue.  It’s one of Nissan’s best sellers and gets great reviews.  The outside looks very similar to my Nissan Murano.  However the interior is more conventional.  Perhaps a little more compact.  Certainly not as many bazaar curves and slopes as the Murano.  That’s good news from a mounting perspective.  Lots of different places will work well in a Nissan Rogue but there were a few mounts and holders that … Read more…

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Nissan Maxima

I recently had a chance to get a close look at the Nissan Maxima.  The Nissan Maxima has a very nice interior.  Lots of good places for a mount but I found a few locations that will not work. As always, a photo of the interior is attached to this article.  It’s a somewhat conventional design.  Having a Nissan Murano myself as my day-to-day vehicle, I was concerned about all the strange curves present in the Murano’s design.  Apparently, the Nissan Maxima designers were more on the normal side.  Not a lot of radical curves or lips. The most popular location for mounting … Read more…

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Mazda CX-5 SUV

This week, I had the opportunity to drive a Mazda CX-5 SUV.  Nice size for an intermediate SUV.  Can’t say I’m a fan of the touch screen interface but there are a lot of good places to mount a phone, GPS or tablet. A photo of the interior of a Mazda CX-5 accompanies this article.  Decent size with the usual long reach to the windshield common to an SUV.  Normal horizontal vents and a long reach down to the cup holders.  So let’s scope out some mount options. The windshield is probably the best place to mount a phone.  My … Read more…

Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus Car and Motorcycle Mounts

The Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus are now available.  That means it’s time for our semi-annual article on mounts to fit the latest and greatest iPhone model. The most notable change, and it’s one that I’m  not a fan of is the elimination of the 3.5 mm headphone jack.  Sure, you can use a Bluetooth headset, but some would prefer not to.  While Apple provides a 3.5 mm to Lightning port adapter, that eliminates the ability to use a headphone jack and charge it at the same time.  I guess this makes it easier to mount the … Read more…

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Toyota 4Runner

I travel a lot and rent all kinds of cars.  Today, the good folks are Budget Car Rental were good enough to upgrade me a Toyota 4Runner.  That means its time for a vehicle specific article on how to mount a cell phone, tablet or GPS in a Toyota 4Rrunner. A photo of the interior of a Toyota 4Runner accompanies this article.  It’s a fairly spacious interior with a fit of a further reach to the windshield.  Nice flat dash but not overly deep which will limit use as a mounting location.  Normal horizontal vents are present.  The cup holder placement is … Read more…

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Mazda Miata

I have a friend with a Mazda Miata and while I can’t possibly fit in it, she seems to like it a lot.  The Mazda Miata is a small convertible that (in my opinion) is better suited for people other than really tall or really wide.  It has a small interior.  Not an easy car to mount a phone, GPS or tablet within. This isn’t an easy task.  The vents are small and round with narrow slats, there aren’t any useful cup holders and it’s too small of a car for a seat bolt mount. The windshield is the best … Read more…
