Car Mounts for the Garmin DriveAssist 51LMT-S GPS and Dash Cam

Continuing our series of articles for the Garmin 2017 series, let’s discuss mounts for the Garmin DriveAssist 51LMT-S.  This is my favorite of the Drive line.  Integration of a dash cam with a GPS device makes a lot of sense to me.  Garmin must agree as they continue their successful integration of the two technologies. Garmin started this concept several years ago with the introduction of the Garmin NuviCam.  Currently, this integration isn’t available in a smartphone.  This gives Garmin a significant advantage over popular GPS apps such as Waze.  While this advantage might disappear in the future, I’m unaware of … Read more

Car Mounts for the Garmin DriveAssist 50LMT

Apparently Garmin is happy with the concept of integrating a dashcam with a GPS because the Garmin DriveAssist 50LMT is the second generation of this type of device.  In 2015, Garmin released the NuviCam line which was the first time they integrated a camera with a GPS.  Our article about the NuviCam has received a lot of hits so I’m guessing it has been doing well for Garmin.  Based upon the naming standard they used, it looks like Garmin is going to be integrating a dashcam option into their main line of GPS models.  It looks to me like Garmin is … Read more

Mounts for Garmin Dash Cam 35 and Dash Cam 30

Garmin made a decision a few years ago to enter the camera market.  They recently released a refresh to their dash camera line with the introduction of the Garmin Dash Cam 35 and Garmin Dash Cam 30.  These cameras sport a way different body style versus their predecessors which were the Dash Cam 10 and Dash Cam 20 which we wrote about here.  They then followed this up with the well reviewed NuviCam which we wrote about here. Both models use incident detection via G-Sensor which automatically saves footage of collisions.  The Dash Cam 30 and Dash Cam 35 have … Read more

Replacing the Garmin Nuvi Suction Cup Mount

Garmin has been providing the same basic mount with their Nuvi GPS models since the beginning when they introduced the Garmin Nuvi 350.  Unlike the older StreetPilot series, the Nuvi was much thinner versus the brick sized Streetpilot line and the suction cup mount, pictured within this article, was a bit new to Garmin.  That old Streetpilot was a large heavy unit, so the larger Streetpilots were typically used with a dashboard mount.  In fact, I don’t recall if a suction cup mount was even available. So you’re probably reading this article because, as the title indicates, you need to replace … Read more
