Jeep Wrangler.  Rugged.  Drives through anything.  People that have them usually love them.  But when it comes to mounts, this is a bit of a challenge. I guess that comes as no surprise.  Previous experiences with the Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass have shown that finding good mount spots in Jeeps aren’t easy.  Several of the traditional and favorite spots for mounting a smartphone, GPS or tablet aren’t going to work well in a Jeep Wrangler.  Interestingly enough, we did find a some mounts that aren’t available in other Jeep models. Car Mounts for the Garmin DriveAssist 51LMT-S GPS and Dash Cam

Continuing our series of articles for the Garmin 2017 series, let’s discuss mounts for the Garmin DriveAssist 51LMT-S.  This is my favorite of the Drive line.  Integration of a dash cam with a GPS device makes a lot of sense to me.  Garmin must agree as they continue their successful integration of the two technologies. Garmin started this concept several years ago with the introduction of the Garmin NuviCam.  Currently, this integration isn’t available in a smartphone.  This gives Garmin a significant advantage over popular GPS apps such as Waze.  While this advantage might disappear in the future, I’m unaware of … Read more…

Mounts for the Garmin Drive 51 and 61 2017 GPS Series

Well it looks like it’s time for the annual Garmin GPS refresh.  It used to be a semi-annual refresh but the GPS market has reached the point where there’s probably not enough new features to do it twice a year.  Couple that with the surge in smartphone GPS apps, and we’re down to an annual refresh.  In 2016, the Garmin Drive had put an end to the ten-year old Garmin Nuvi line of GPS units and Garmin has continued to use the naming standard for 2017.  This year, they have added 1 to the base number so we are looking at … Read more…

Car and Motorcycle Mounts for the Huawei Mate 9

This is the first article on our site about a phone from Huawei and it’s a fairly impressive one at that.  The Huawei Mate 9 was introduced by the company in September 2016. Very impressive specs that rival (and surpass) some of the best out there.  An impressive 20 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera with 64GB of memory.  That’s impressive for the price. To get ready for the mount discussion, lets check the dimensions of the phone.  The Huawei Mate 9 sports a 5.9 inch diagonal display so it’s a bit larger than most smartphones.  The Huawei Mate … Read more…
