Mounts for the Garmin Drive 51 and 61 2017 GPS Series

Well it looks like it’s time for the annual Garmin GPS refresh.  It used to be a semi-annual refresh but the GPS market has reached the point where there’s probably not enough new features to do it twice a year.  Couple that with the surge in smartphone GPS apps, and we’re down to an annual refresh.  In 2016, the Garmin Drive had put an end to the ten-year old Garmin Nuvi line of GPS units and Garmin has continued to use the naming standard for 2017.  This year, they have added 1 to the base number so we are looking at … Read more…

Motorcycle and Car Mounts for Garmin Nuvi 2455LMT, 2455LT, 2475LT and 2495LMT GPS

This line of GPS models was introduced by Garmin in 2011.  These units are still in use several years later and we’re finding the GPS is outlasting the mounts, hence our article about mounting options for this series of popular devices.  All of these GPS models have a subscription to traffic alerts and two have a lifetime map subscription.  Devices like the Garmin Nuvi 2455LMT with an LMT or LM after the number have a lifetime map subscription and those that have an LT or LMT have a lifetime traffic subscription. If you have any of these units that have a traffic subscription, … Read more…

Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT, 2595LT and 2595LM Motorcycle and Car Mounts

This line of GPS models was introduced by Garmin in 2012.  The 2595 line of devices were introduced as an update to Garmin’s extremely successful 2555 lineup.  The difference between the two is that the 2595 has Bluetooth and voice recognition.  Nice features that result on the driver not having to manually interface with the GPS.  Devices like the Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT with an LMT or LM after the number have a lifetime map subscription and those that have an LT or LMT have a lifetime traffic subscription.  As far as I can tell though, only the 2595LMT was available in … Read more…

Garmin Nuvi 2555LMT, 2555LT and 2555LM Motorcycle and Car Mounts

This line of GPS models was introduced by Garmin in 2011.  These units are still in use several years later and we’re finding the GPS is outlasting the mounts, hence our article about mounting options for this series of popular devices.  Most of these GPS units have a lifetime subscription to map updates which means that your GPS won’t be outdated and you can defer purchase of a replacement for quite a while.  Devices like the Garmin Nuvi 2555LMT with an LMT or LM after the number have a lifetime map subscription and those that have an LT or LMT have … Read more…

Garmin DriveLuxe 50LMTHD Car and Motorcycle Mounts

The Garmin DriveLuxe 50LMTHD is part of Garmin’s 2016 vehicle GPS refresh.  This is the top of the line GPS model for Garmin.  We previously discussed the base lineup which is now called the Garmin Drive.  I guess Garmin decided to retire the decade old Nuvi name because all of their vehicular GPS series has the word “Drive” within it including the previously discussed Garmin DriveAssist which is the new designation for the next generation of NuviCam.  I never understood what Nuvi meant and I’m guessing nobody else did.  It’s probably a wise move to drop the name. Anyway, Garmin DriveLuxe 50LMTHD … Read more…
