Traffic Receivers
To receive traffic information on your compatible Garmin GPS, a traffic receiver and antenna are needed to process and transmit the information to your unit. With some of our units, this receiver and antenna must be purchased separately. Each purchase of a GTM antenna (except GXM 30) includes a 15-month subscription to Clear Channel TMC. After the 15-month subscription, you may renew for roughly $60 US annually in North America. Currently, Garmin offers the following traffic receivers/antennas:
GTM 20
The GTM 20 is an integrated FM TMC (Traffic Message Channel) traffic receiver, antenna and cigarette lighter adapter, designed exclusively for the American version of specific products. It receives digital information (where available) on traffic and road construction tie-ups that your compatible Garmin unit uses to offer an alternate route. Just connect the GTM 20 to your Garmin unit and plug it into a 12-volt receptacle in your vehicle to receive traffic information.
GTM 12
The GTM 12 is an FM TMC (Traffic Message Channel) traffic receiver and antenna. It receives digital information (where available) on traffic and road construction tie-ups that your compatible Garmin unit uses to offer an alternate route. The GTM 12 features a new compact design and includes an antenna suction cup mount and mini-USB connector, making it easy to install and connect to your Garmin unit.
GTM 10
The GTM 10 is a small FM-band traffic receiver that connects in between your car stereo and antenna to provide real-time Traffic Message Channel (TMC) data to your compatible Garmin unit — which then depicts and identifies problem areas on its moving-map display. Professional installation required.
GXM™ 30
This smart, all-in-one GXM 30 XM data receiver and antenna delivers XM traffic to compatible units. In addition, it can provide XM Satellite Radio along with graphical and textual marine, aviation, and automotive XM WX weather information depending on the type of unit you own and your subscription package.
