Arkon Center Extension Car Headrest Tablet Mount Review

Arkon Center Extension Car Headrest Tablet MountThe Arkon Center Extension Car Headrest Tablet Mount is a very innovative headrest mount.  I have used a lot of headrest mounts over the years.  This one has features I have not seen before and worth consideration for backseat passengers.  We take a closer look at this car headrest mount.

The best car headrest mounts have some common characteristics.  It needs to have a universal holder that can accommodate varying sizes of devices including those with a case or skin.  Ideal headrest mounts will extend to the middle between the front seats so that multiple passengers can watch at the same time.  Lastly, it needs to be easy to attach to the front seats and just as easy to remove.  This car headrest tablet mount does all this.

The unique part of the Arkon Center Extension Car Headrest Tablet Mount is the design.  Most clip to the two headrest posts of a single seat or strap over the headrest.  Not this one.  The design is such that the tablet can be extended between the seats.  The mount consists of a metal attachment to the headrest posts of the passenger seat.  From the attachment is an extension that slides out towards the middle of the two front seats to allow equal viewing rights to all backseat passengers.  Great work on the design.

So why is this extension important?  Basic headrest mounts work well for a single passenger.  Fights can ensure if you have more than one kid back there so for those families blessed with a larger family, this car headrest tablet mount might be the best mount.  The tablet winds up between the two front seats.  No fights over who has the best angle to the tablet.  Now the kids will just fight over what they are watching on the tablet.

A universal holder is included with the mount.  This holder fits tablets from a large Apple iPad Pro to a small Apple iPad Mini.  These also fit most of the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Note models.  It will fit tablets in a case or skin or without a case or skin.  The holder is spring-loaded so that your device is easy to install and remove.  There are eight legs of varying lengths to allow fit customization.  Coupled with the metal mount, the cradle can swivel 360 degrees and can rotate into portrait or landscape.  Although most viewing of videos will use landscape, it’s good to be able to go portrait for those rare circumstances when that orientation is required.

The mount works with any adjustable height car headrest with two support bars and fits a small car to an SUV.  The mounting attachment includes screws to tighten the grip onto each of the two headrest posts.  The mount is made of metal so there is minimal shake when in use.

The Arkon Center Extension Car Headrest Tablet Mount is a well made mount that comes with a 2-year warranty from the manufacturer.  I have used it personally and can vouch for the sturdiness versus the plastic mounts that attach to the middle of the seat.  Never had an issue with this mount over many uses.  I have used it for a full size Apple iPad as well as Apple iPad Mini by just switching out the arm sizes on the cradle.  I even swapped out the tablet cradle for a cell phone holder and used it for an iPhone (Arkon cradles are interchangeable using their dual T mounting pattern found on this mount).

A good mount worthy of consideration.
