Phone, GPS and Camera Mounts for Honda FourTrax ATVs

Today, we take a look at mounts for the Honda FourTrax line of ATVs.  The Honda FourTrax lineup spans a variety of models including the FourTrax Foreman Rubicon, FourTrax Foreman 4×4, FourTrax Rincon, FourTrax Rancher and several others from past years.  All are built similarly. While the Honda FourTrax ATVs do not have a traditional motorcycle handlebar, I was surprised to find there are some similarities.  Between the brake controls and the fork where the controls are located is some spare handlebar space.  That space is difficult to find on any ATV, but it’s here on the FourTrax.  This is the best place to mount a … Read more…

Phone, GPS and Drink Mounts for a BMW R1200RT Motorcycle

The BMW R1200RT is a touring motorcycle that has been around since 2005.  There have been one major design change since then.  Because of the lack of traditional handlebar where there’s some spare mounting space, this motorcycle is a bit more challenging to mount a phone, GPS, camera or drink holder. The photo that accompanies this article is a BMW R1200RT.  This motorcycle owner has overcome the challenge of mounting his stuff.  He has a Garmin Zumo mounted to the fairing.  There’s a RAM X-Grip phone holder mounted to the center of where the handlebars attach.  The bottle of water wasn’t in … Read more…

Car Mounts for the Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector

The Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector is one of the more popular radar detectors manufactured by Escort over the past several years.  While it will work well for many years, the car mount will not. There’s a good chance that the Escort Passport 8500 X50 radar detector will outlast the mount.  This is a well made and expensive radar detector.  Unfortunately the mount isn’t made as well as the radar detector.  The small suction cups will likely lose suction after a year or two.  This is especially going to be the case if living in extreme climates. The mount that is … Read more…

Car Mounts for the Rocky Mountain Phantom-T Radar Detector

The Rocky Mountain Phantom-T radar detector is a tried and true device which has worked well for me over the years.  However, the included mount leaves a lot to be desired.  This is an expensive radar detector, yet the included mount leaves something to be desired. The problem with the included mount starts at the small suction cups that are attached to the metal clip.  They tend to dry up and become ineffective.  Especially with weather extremes such as what we run into in New Jersey.  Very cold in the winter.  Very hot and humid in the summer.  Anyway, that … Read more…

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry is one of those vehicles that can accept almost any mount.  Not a lot that will not work in this car but there are a few locations that will work better than others.  Last week, I looked at the Jeep Renegade which was the exact opposite, almost nowhere to mount anything.  This restores my faith that car designers haven’t lost their minds. As usual, a photo of the interior of is attached to this article.  It’s a very conventional design.  Not a lot of unexpected curves or lips.  Even the seat bolt is exposed.  Normally, I go on … Read more…

Phone, GPS and Tablet Mounts for a Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is as big pickup truck.  You might think that every mount would work on a Ford F-150.  Turns out not to be the case.  We take a look at how to mount a cell phone, tablet or GPS in a Ford F-150. A photo of the interior of a Ford F-150 accompanies this article.  It’s a large interior with a nice big dash and a long reach to the windshield.  Normal horizontal vents and a long reach down to the cup holders.  So let’s see what’s going to work. For a cell phone, I like the vent mount best. … Read more…

Good Inexpensive Motorcycle Cell Phone Mounts

I decided to write this article after attending the 2016 Gooch’s Garlic Run.  This is an event held in Northern New Jersey every June to benefit needy families.  I try to attend annually.  It’s a lot of fun to walk around and watch the activity.  It’s also interesting to see what mounts are deployed.  Some good. Some really bad.  It’s time for an article on good inexpensive motorcycle cell phone mounts. Motorcycle riders like to mount a lot of devices.  Phones, cameras, drinks, satellite radios.  Didn’t see anyone mounting any tablets this year but have seen a few Apple iPads … Read more…

Mounts for Harley-Davidson Street Glide Motorcycles

I attended the 2016 Gooch’s Garlic Run earlier this week.  I have written about this annual event before.  It’s for a good cause and each year a few thousand bikers show up for the annual ride to downtown Newark.  There are thousands of motorcycles here.  It’s one of New Jersey’s largest motorcycle events.  I saw more Harley-Davidson Street Glide models than any other.  Maybe it’s a New jersey thing.  There were a lot of mounts on these bikes.  So, here’s our article about mounts and holders for Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycles. The photo that accompanies this article is a Harley-Davidson Street … Read more…
